Thanks for stopping by to learn more about me.
My name is Ari Lucia and I'm currently a Staff Accountant at FLEXE, Inc. I've been working in accounting for over 7 years now and recently felt a need to jump into something a bit more creative.
Once COVID-19 hit and my company went to fully work from home in the beginning of 2020, that’s when I really started to realize that I wasn’t feeling fulfilled in my job. I knew I still wanted to work with data and other people, but I wanted the ability to add some more creativity, a little less structure, and possibly do something that tries to address inequalities or other social issues. After doing some research I found that UX/UI design sounded like it could be exactly what I was looking for and quickly signed up for DesignLab’s starter program, Foundations. Although this program was mostly focused on only UI design, I knew it would at least be a good place to start. And I was right because I almost immediately fell in love with the course and the program, Figma. So as soon as I could I promptly applied for DesignLab’s full design course, UX Academy. Throughout this course I’ve been able to gain a deeper understanding of the full design thinking process, get more exposure to research and testing, while also improving upon my UI and design skills.
In my spare time I absolutely love building legos. My favorite one I've built so far is the Manchester United stadium, Old Trafford, which I completed with my husband. It has an extra special connection to us as we had the amazing opportunity to see a game live at the stadium in 2017. (The lego set we built is pictured to the right).
